About The Cloquet Rotary:

"Get ready for the most random, original, and ultimate day of your winter"

Rotary is a worldwide organization of more than 1.2 million business, professional, and community leaders. Members of Rotary clubs, known as Rotarians, provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.

There are 33,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas. Clubs are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds. As signified by the motto Service Above Self, Rotary’s main objective is service — in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world.

Funds from this year’s event will be used toward scholarships given to students from Cloquet, Esko, and Carlton High Schools.  A few of the other projects supported by the Cloquet Rotary Club include donations to the Community Memorial Hospital Foundation, the Cloquet Education Foundation, Friends of Animals, the Salvation Army, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Food Shelf, and adoption of Fauley Park in Cloquet.  Registration will take place for 2 separate registration times the first beginning at 9:00 A.M. and the second at Noon on Saturday, February 13th in the registration tent at Chub Lake.

Here are a few items the Cloquet Rotary is involved in:

Junior Rotarian Program-

As part of our Junior Rotarian Program, we have 25-30 senior high school students from Cloquet, Esko, and Carlton attend our noon lunch meetings between October and April.

At the end of the year all the Junior Rotarians run our noon meeting by themselves and at the end of the school year, our Club awards five $1000 and one $1500 scholarship to the group.  As young adults these students have an opportunity to learn more about the ideals of Rotary and hopefully take these with them in their life after high school.

Cloquet Rotary Literacy Project-

The Cloquet Rotary Club is involved with several literacy projects with our area schools. In addition to the Backpack program whereby needy students are provided with backbacks and various school supplies at the start of the school year, the Club also has two annual projects which involve the distribution of dictionaries and a "Book About You" project, which are a lot of fun.

Hondures Humanitarian Project-

For the past several years, the Cloquet Rotary Club has sponsored at least one annual trip to Honduras.  This project has been headed up by Reverend Dennis Morreim, who himself is a Rotarian.  Several other Cloquet Rotarians have made the trip to Hondures with Dennis' Cloquet group to assist with the building of school in various deprived parts of the country.

Camp RYLA-

Camp RYLA is a district-wide Rotary Youth Leadership camp that is held in July at the University of MN, Crookston.  Each year our Club sponsors six students between 16-18 from area high schools to attend this event, which helps develop valuable leaderships skills. RYLA training can set the stage for camper's success in their future careers and it is truly amazing to listen to the stories that parents tell of how this experience has made a difference in their child's life.

Cloquet Adopt-a-Park Program-

As part of Cloquet's Adopt-A-Park program, the Cloquet Rotary Club has adopted Fauley Park, which is where the old steam locomotive is located at HWY 33 and Cloquet Ave.  As a Club, we help maintain the park in the spring and fall and also decorate the train around the Christmas season.

Salvation Army Bell ringing-

As part of another Community Service Project, members have assisted with the Salvation Army's bell ringing effort around the Christmas season.
